Summertime Blues
Eddie Crochan 1958
Text
Well, Iīm gonna
raise a fuss, Iīm gonna raise a holler,
About a-workingī all summer just ti try to earn a dollar.
Well, every time I call my baby, try to get a date, My boss says, "No dice, son,
you gotta work late."
Sometimes I wonder what Iīm a-gonna do
But there ainīt no cure for summertime blues.
Well, my MomīnīPapa told me, "son, you gotta make some money,
If you wanna use the car to go ridinīnext Sunday."
Well, I didnīt do to work, told the boss I was sick,
"Now you canīt use the carīcause you didnīt work a lick."
Sometimes I wonder what Iīm a-gonna do
But there ainīt no cure for summertime blues.
Iīm gonna take two weeks, gonna have a fine vacation,
Iīm gonna take my problem to the United Nations.
Well, I called my Congressman, and he said (quote)
"Iīd like to help you, son, but youīre too young to vote."
Sometimes I wonder what Iīm a-gonna do
But there ainīt no cure for summertime blues.
